Amanda Egge is a stand-up comedian, writer and performer. As a stand-up she has performed at the Hollywood Improv, the Comedy Store, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, the Comedy Underground in Seattle as well as numerous smaller venues. As a writer she has written for MadAtoms and Ruthless Reviews.
From 2005-2009, Amanda co-hosted and produced The Dirtiest Sketch in LA Contest, a monthly sketch show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre with co-hosts Colton Dunn (2005-2006), Michael Busch (2006-2008) and Joe Hartzler (2008-2009). The Los Angeles Times chose The Dirtiest Sketch in LA Contest as a Comedy “Pick” for the week of September 15, 2005. Dirtiest Sketch was frequently featured on Defamer as a “To-Do” in Los Angeles. Black Book Insider featured Dirtiest Sketch as “Pick of the Week” on January 15th, 2008. LA Weekly featured Dirtiest Sketch in their GO LA section on January 15th, 2009.
In 2009 she wrote and performed her first one person show Friend Request based on three true stories about people she had met off the internet and the social networking sites she had met them on. Friend Request ran June- July of 2009 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and was directed by Matt Price.
In edition to her one person show and Dirtiest Sketch, Amanda has also performed in the following shows at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles: Four Stories and a Cover, The Dirtiest Comic in LA Contest, Show and Tell, The Vajay-jay Monologues, F’ed Up and Illegal Videos, Cagematch, The Classy Show, Zone of Zones, Pimp’d, Spill Your Guts, The Idiots, Not Too Shabby and See You Next Tuesday.
In January 2010, Amanda started Joke Lab with co-host Lauren Rochelle. Joke Lab is weekly comedy variety show at the Labcabin in Los Angeles where performers have one week to come up with new material on a topic suggested by the audiance. Joke Lab has been featured on LAist’s LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy. Joke Lab happens every Thursday night at 9pm at the Labcabin (833 N La Brea).
In May of 2010, Amanda is starting a spin-off stand-up only version of Joke Lab called Stood Up Friday Night with co-producers Lauren Rochelle and Ted Twyman. Stood Up begins May 7th and will be every Friday night at 10pm at the Moving Arts Theatre (1822 Hyperion Avenue).
